Veekee James Served Amala… and a Full Yoruba Bride Fantasy

Veekee James? She performs.
In what might be the most fashionable take on kitchen duties we’ve seen in a while, the designer and fashion powerhouse decided to whip up amala, ewedu, and gbegiri but not without turning it into a full-on cultural slay moment.

Dressed in a striking burgundy and navy aso-oke set, layered with traditional coral beads and a show-stopping gele, Veekee looked more ready for an engagement ceremony than kitchen duty. And honestly? We love it.
In her words:
“First time making this delicacy… but it was the sweetest I ever tasted, no cap.”
If this is what proof of “wife material” looks like, Veekee submitted a first-class thesis. From balancing elegance with tradition, to holding it down in front of a steaming pot, we salute a woman who can serve both looks and lunch.
It’s giving:
If a woman can make the soup and manage the home, she’s a keeper.
Cooking may have been the assignment, but looking like royalty? That was clearly the agenda. And if you’re still wondering what to wear while preparing local delicacies or walking down the aisle, just know: Veekee has set the bar.
