Banky W Bags Master’s in Policy Management from Georgetown
Nigerian singer, actor and politician, Bankole Wellington, widely known as Banky W, has successfully completed a Master’s degree in Policy Management at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
The announcement was made via his official Instagram page, where he shared photos from the graduation ceremony. Banky W disclosed that the academic pursuit was part of a period that involved simultaneously managing several demanding roles, including parenting, academic studies, and policy work.
In addition to being enrolled as a full-time postgraduate student at the prestigious McCourt School of Public Policy, Banky W served as a Fellow on Capitol Hill and welcomed a second child with his wife, actress Adesuwa Etomi-Wellington. The couple had their first child in 2021 and their second son, Hezekiah Oluwadarasimi Wellington, during the course of his studies.
Banky W described the period as physically and mentally demanding, noting the challenges of managing a family with young children alongside academic and professional obligations. He emphasised the importance of self-reflection and growth, suggesting that he took time away from the spotlight to re-evaluate his priorities and direction.
While reflecting on his journey, he noted that achievements should not always be viewed as endpoints but can also mark the beginning of new chapters. He hinted at a return to public life and professional engagement, encouraging others to continue pursuing their goals irrespective of timing.
Banky W, who previously contested a House of Representatives seat in Lagos under the PDP, is one of several Nigerian public figures increasingly involved in governance and policy.
