Nigeria’s Breakout Star Delivers A Four-Track Emotional Blueprint, Led By High-Energy Anthem “GO GO!”
Fast-rising Nigerian artist Khaid announces the release of his highly anticipated EP, B4R&W (Before Rich & Wacko), a carefully curated four-track project that serves as the official prelude to his forthcoming debut album, Rich & Wacko.
More than a teaser, the EP is an emotional and sonic blueprint, inviting listeners into the evolving world of one of Africa’s most exciting young voices.
B4R&W functions as a conceptual introduction to the world Khaid intends to fully explore on his forthcoming debut album, Rich & Wacko. Across four records, the project examines the contradictions that often define personal growth, navigating themes of ambition, vulnerability, resilience, self-belief, and internal conflict. Rather than presenting a singular narrative, the EP captures multiple emotional states, reflecting the uncertainty and complexity that accompany the pursuit of success.
At the centre of the project is the idea of duality. The title, Before Rich & Wacko, represents a transitional space where aspiration collides with reality, where confidence exists alongside doubt, and where personal identity continues to evolve under pressure. Through this lens, Khaid documents a period of transformation, offering listeners insight into the experiences and mindset shaping both his artistry and personal journey.
Speaking on the inspiration behind the project, Khaid explains, “Wacko to me is streetwise confidence. It’s how you carry yourself in tough situations and stay solid no matter the circumstance.”
That philosophy becomes a defining thread throughout the project. While the title may suggest wealth and status, Khaid frames Rich & Wacko as a reflection of lived experience rather than image. “People might see the branding and assume I’m just a rich kid from a wealthy family. But the truth is, I grew up on the street. I lived it. I experienced it,” he says.
The project also explores the relationship between restraint and action, with Khaid positioning the concept of being “wacko” as a willingness to stand firm when circumstances demand it. “I believe every person has a wacko side. Some think that way, but for me it was my reality,” he explains. “Sometimes people need to see that action side of you to truly respect and regard you.”
Musically, B4R&W serves as a preview of the contrasting dimensions that will define Rich & Wacko. According to Khaid, the album is built around two distinct creative identities. “The Rich songs represent the sound people already know me for, melodic, sweet records like Jolie, With You, and Jara. Even my trap records still carry that Rich vibe. The Wacko songs are the side they’re not used to. I’m excited to give the audience that experience.”
Leading the project is GO GO! an energetic Afrobeats record that showcases Khaid’s charisma, confidence, and instinct for creating records with broad commercial appeal. Built around infectious rhythms, playful lyricism, and an undeniable sense of momentum, the track captures the youthful ambition and streetwise self-assurance that have become central to his artistic identity. Its combination of memorable hooks and dancefloor-ready energy positions it as one of the project’s defining moments.
With B4R&W, Khaid delivers more than a precursor to an album. He offers a statement of intent. The EP provides a deeper understanding of the dualities that shape his perspective, while laying the foundation for a debut album that promises to expand both the scope of his storytelling and the boundaries of his sound.
As anticipation builds around Rich & Wacko, B4R&W positions Khaid as an artist entering a defining chapter of his career with greater clarity, confidence, and creative ambition.
