Kemi Adetiba Drops Trailer & Release Date For “To Kill A Monkey”

The wait is finally over. If you’ve been refreshing your feed and wondering when Kemi Adetiba would drop her next big project, the trailer for To Kill A Monkey just landed, and it’s every bit as intense as we hoped.
Even better? It’s coming to Netflix on July 18. So yes, go ahead and start counting down.
This one’s not a movie, it’s an 8-part limited series, and it already looks like a masterclass in suspense. The story follows Efemini, a man who’s just trying to stay afloat. But everything changes when he bumps into an old friend. What starts as a casual encounter quickly snowballs into a plunge into Nigeria’s cybercrime underworld. With every choice, he’s pulled further into a web of moral compromise, and the deeper he goes, the more dangerous the game becomes.
To Kill A Monkey marks Kemi Adetiba’s return to the screen after the success of King of Boys: Return of the King in 2021. And like always, she’s showing up big as writer, director, and producer. She teams up again with Remi Adetiba under the Kemi Adetiba Visuals banner, with an original score crafted by Oscar Heman–Ackah.
The cast is stacked with some of Nollywood’s finest, William Benson, Bucci Franklin, Bimbo Akintola, Stella Damasus, Chidi Mokeme, Sunshine Rosman, Lilian Afegbai, Ireti Doyle, Teniola Aladese, Michael Ejoor, and more. It’s the kind of ensemble that screams drama, power, and unforgettable performances.
From the trailer alone, To Kill A Monkey looks gritty, emotional, and unapologetically bold. It’s everything you’d expect from a Kemi Adetiba project and probably more.
Watch the trailer below and get ready, July 18 can’t come soon enough.
