Stephanie Karikari Ventures into Film Industry with Debut Movie ‘GEM’ – Exclusive Details

From beauty queen to business mogul, and now, filmmaker, Stephanie Karikari is adding yet another feather to her cap with the release of her debut film, GEM.
A woman of many talents, Karikari first captured hearts as Miss Ghana 2010, and later won international recognition at Miss World 2011 with the Beauty with a Purpose title. Since then, she has built a remarkable career across beauty, media, and entrepreneurship, founding Safari Cosmetics and hosting the popular SK Guide Show on Akwaaba Magic, a travel and lifestyle show spotlighting Africa’s vibrant pulse.
Now, she’s taking her storytelling journey to new heights as a film producer, using the medium to spotlight critical social issues. Her debut film, GEM, dives deep into the dark realities of galamsey , the illegal mining crisis wreaking havoc across Ghana. But GEM is more than just a film; it’s a powerful social commentary on youth disillusionment, environmental degradation, and the systemic barriers that block dreams before they start.
“Production was always going to be a part of my journey in the media space,” Stephanie shares. “Creating is what I do—I love being hands-on with my work. GEM is a project that speaks to my passion for telling impactful stories that matter.”
With GEM, Karikari proves she’s not just producing film, she’s producing change.
