“I Was Only Recommended For Suspension For Being Flashy and Stylish” Oluwo Of Iwo Responds

The Osun state council of traditional rulers on Friday the 21st of February 2020 suspended the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi for six months.

His suspension followed an emergency meeting of top monarchs across the state including the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, in Osogbo, the capital.

His suspension was not in connection with the alleged assault on the Agbowu of Ogbaagba, Oba Dhikirulahi Akinropo, but over what they termed Oluwo’s indecent acts to some monarchs, including the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, Alake of Egbaland and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

Briefing journalists at the end of the meeting which lasted for about three hours, the Orangun of Ila Orangun, Oba Wahab Adedotun said: “Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi has been suspended for six months.

In his defence, the monarch took to Instagram to debunk his suspension, he posted a video of himself dancing at a party and he captioned it;

Oba (Dr) Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi Telu is the one and only Oluwo of Iwoland.
He was never suspended as Oluwo of Iwoland. Osun State Traditional Council has only recommended his suspension from the council meetings and activities for six months on the guise that his conduct (been too flashy, stylish, human rights defender and swagging) and that is even subject to Governors approval
