Pheelz & Bnxn Get First RIAA Gold Certification with ‘Finesse’
Nigerian singer, songwriter, and producer Pheelz has reached a major career milestone as his 2022 hit single Finesse, featuring BNXN, has been certified Gold in the United States by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
This certification signifies over 500,000 units sold in the US, further cementing Pheelz’s impact on the global music scene.
Originally released on March 3, 2022, Finesse became an instant hit, gaining traction through its infectious melody, catchy lyrics, and a viral TikTok snippet that launched the #FolakeChallenge. The song dominated streaming platforms, amassing over 180 million streams on Spotify alone, and made waves on the Billboard Global 200 and US Afrobeats Songs charts. Pheelz even took the stage at the 2022 BET Awards Red Carpet, performing the track that skyrocketed his career.
Finesse later became a standout track on Pheelz’s 2023 EP, Pheelz Good, which also featured hit songs like Electricity featuring Davido and Stand By You. Since transitioning from a producer—crafting hits for Olamide, Fireboy DML, and Davido—to a recording artist, Pheelz has consistently delivered chart-topping records, solidifying his position in Afrobeats.
The 2024 music season has been equally eventful for the multi-talented star. He released Pheelz Good II, the second instalment of his EP series, and gained further international recognition by co-writing, producing, and featuring on Usher’s ‘Ruin’, which earned him a nomination for Best Afrobeats at the 2024 MTV VMAs.
