‘Naija Man’ Drake Seems Excited By Possibilities
There has been a growing rumour in recent years that Aubrey Drake Graham, the popular Canadian rapper, simply known as Drake may have Nigerian roots.
While there has been no official confirmation of this, there are several factors that suggest that it could be true.
Firstly, Drake has shown a deep appreciation for Nigerian music and culture. In 2017, he released a song titled “One Dance” which featured Nigerian artist Wizkid and incorporated elements of Afrobeats, a popular genre of music in Nigeria. The song was a massive success and topped charts around the world, introducing many people to Nigerian music for the first time.
Drake has also been spotted wearing clothing with Nigerian designs and patterns. He has also been seen hanging out with Nigerian celebrities such as Skepta and Wizkid, further fueling speculation about his possible Nigerian heritage.
While these factors are intriguing, there is now more evidence to suggest that Drake has Nigerian heritage. Drake recently took to his Instagram story to share the DNA test results of his father, Dennis Graham.
According to the test results, Dennis possesses 30% Nigerian lineage, which means that Drake is also of Nigerian descent. The test also revealed that Dennis has roots in several other African countries, including Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Mali, Benin, and Togo.
Drake seemed excited by the news and even questioned whether it finally made him a “Naija man,” a term used to refer to Nigerians. While Drake has yet to comment further on the test results or his Nigerian heritage, this discovery has only added to the speculation surrounding his connection to Nigeria.
Furthermore, this news further cements Drake’s appreciation for Nigerian culture and music. With his newfound connection to Nigeria, it will be interesting to see how Drake continues to explore and incorporate Nigerian culture into his music and personal life.
