“There Is No 50/50 in My Marriage. It’s 100/100” — Blessing Obasi-Nze on Her Marriage to Actor Stan Nze

Nollywood actress Blessing Jessica Obasi-Nze has spoken about how she approaches marriage, saying she does not subscribe to percentage-based arrangements like “50/50” or “70/30”.

Instead, she described her marriage as “100/100”, framing it as a partnership where both people contribute fully in different ways as needed.

Obasi-Nze made the comments during an interview on Diary of a Naija Girl’s Dear IFE Series (Episode 3). In the conversation, she said she and her husband do not run their home like a transaction, including situations where couples itemise bills or repeatedly ask each other how much they are contributing to rent or household expenses. According to her, that kind of back-and-forth creates a “calculation” mentality that can make the relationship feel like office work.

On finances, she explained that her husband does not routinely ask her how much she earns each month, and that the structure of their home does not depend on constant income checks or percentage splits.

She added that there are times he covers expenses without discussing them in detail beforehand, but provides documentation such as receipts afterwards, which she linked to his sense of accountability. She also said she is aware of what he earns, and suggested he may know less about her earnings than she knows about his, because he does not request those figures from her.

Blessing also touched on broader topics during the episode, including her early career, personal loss, and public speculation about her marriage. She discussed what it is like to collaborate professionally with her husband and addressed the importance of being financially and personally grounded as an individual within a marriage. The interview also included a discussion on child violence by parents, which she described as an issue that deserves direct attention.

The full conversation appears on YouTube via Diary of a Naija Girl’s channel.
