In an unexpected revelation on the Honest Bunch Podcast, the ever-charismatic Nigerian comedian Helen Paul unravelled a fascinating chapter of her career, intertwined with the iconic Psquare hit ‘Story.’

Helen celebrated for her comedic genius, disclosed that she lent her voice to the now-famous line, “Uncle, please tell us a story,” in Psquare’s 2005 sensation. Remarkably, this revelation occurred during a time when Helen, then a receptionist, had no inkling of Psquare’s rising stardom.

Reflecting on the fortuitous turn of events, she shared, “I didn’t know P Square. I didn’t even know they were going to blow. They came to the studio, expecting some children who didn’t show up. Ayoadeife then said, ‘We have somebody who can do this voice, and this person can do all the range children.'”

Taking on the role without fully grasping its implications, Helen unknowingly embarked on a journey that would alter the course of her career.

“I didn’t fight for it,” she admitted, highlighting her humble approach. Unbeknownst to her, this seemingly small voiceover gig would catalyse a thriving career.

“This opportunity changed my life,” she affirmed. “The next job I did was for another milk product. At that point, my salary was N9,500; I started receiving about N400,000 or N450,000 every month.”
