Kehinde Bankole Joins UK Tour of “Anna Hibiscus’ Song”
Award-winning actress and producer Kehinde Bankole is joining the UK tour of “Anna Hibiscus’ Song”, a vibrant and interactive play based on the popular children’s book.
The production tells the story of Anna Hibiscus, a young girl living in Ibadan, Nigeria, and her journey of self-discovery.
Kehunde Bankole, known for her roles in films like “Sista”, “Adire”, “Blood Sisters”, and “Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti”, will play the roles of Auntie Jolie and Storyteller, bringing her passion for African stories to the stage. The play, adapted and directed by Mojisola Kareem, combines music, dance, puppetry, and traditional African storytelling to create a colorful and immersive experience.
The UK tour, which kicks off at Bristol Old Vic on August 28, will visit nine cities across the country, including Liverpool, Birmingham, Leeds, Nottingham, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Manchester, and London. Bankole joins a talented cast, including Malick Bojang, Althea Burey, Dorthea Darby, Julius Obende, and Saskia Rose.
“Anna Hibiscus’ Song” is a celebration of African culture and storytelling, suitable for children aged 3 and up.
