Ghanaian sensation, Ǫueen Drie stole the spotlight over the weekend at the Chicago’s 312 Music Awards by not only winning the coveted “Afro Artist of the Year” award but also etching her name in the annals of history as the first-ever recipient of this prestigious award.

Ǫueen Drie’s triumph marks a significant milestone for African artistes in the city, with her genre-defying Afrobeats sound gaining well-deserved recognition.

During her acceptance speech, Ǫueen Drie expressed her gratitude to the organizers for introducing the Afro Artist of the Year category, acknowledging the importance of representing African music within the vibrant Chicago music scene.

Her win not only celebrates her individual achievement but also symbolizes the growing influence of Afrobeats on a global scale.

“I want to say thank you to the 312 Music Awards for recognizing Africans in the city with the introduction of this category… the city is so much bigger than what we think it is. And also for recognizing us and afrobeats and for afrobeats as a genre to make it up here means a lot. We’re grateful and shoutouts to everyone who got nominated in the category… we’re all winners,” she remarked.

In a mesmerizing performance, Ǫueen Drie showcased the power of her music, treating the audience to renditions of her newly released single “Woman,” exclusively available on EVEN, along with an electrifying collaboration with Jessenation titled “See You Later”, and her infectious song “Ferrari.”
