Chinedu Ikedieze, the legendary Nollywood actor renowned as half of the iconic Aki and Pawpaw duo, has recently revealed a deeply personal struggle he faced during his formative years.

In a candid conversation on the popular With Chude Podcast, hosted by Chude Jideonwo, Ikedieze disclosed his emotional battle with bullying and self-acceptance due to his stunted growth.

The Nollywood stalwart shared a poignant revelation about his past, recounting how he contemplated suicide due to the relentless bullying he faced because of his stunted growth. Speaking openly about his experience on the podcast, Ikedieze highlighted the profound impact bullying had on his mental health during his childhood.

Ikedieze disclosed that the torment he experienced from both peers and adults alike led him to a moment of profound despair. He revealed that there was a time when he even contemplated jumping off the Third Mainland Bridge, driven to the brink of sadness by the relentless bullying he endured.

At the age of nine, Ikedieze was officially diagnosed with stunted growth by the family’s medical doctor. This diagnosis shed light on his condition and offered a semblance of clarity to his experiences. The actor shared how he sought to understand the meaning of terms like “retardation” and “growth retardation,” illustrating his determination to comprehend his situation.

“While they were throwing all those tantrums I cried several times, it got bad o and there were times that I thought of ending it all. Thank God I didn’t o.”
