Victory Gbakara Triumphs as Nigerian Idol Season 8 Winner, Taking Home ₦100 Million Grand Prize
In a thrilling grand finale held in Lagos on Sunday, Victory Gbakara, a contestant on Nigerian Idol Season 8, emerged as the winner of the show, securing the prestigious ₦100 million grand prize.
The announcement was made by the show’s host, Ikponmwosa Osakioduwa, popularly known as IK, amidst a wave of excitement and anticipation.
The 25-year-old Victory Gbakara has claimed victory in this season of Nigerian Idol, reaping a wealth of rewards. Alongside the grand prize of ₦35 million in cash, he also received a brand new SUV, a year’s supply of Bigi drinks, a delightful week-long holiday in Cape Town, and a year’s supply of WAW detergent, among other prizes.
Throughout the live shows, the fate of the contestants was in the hands of the viewers, who had the power to retain or evict them through their votes. Following five weeks of auditions and theatre week performances, the trio of Obi Asika, D’banj, and Simi selected the top 10 best performers. Among them were Savvy Henry, Constance, Goodness, Abraham, Quest, Precious Mac, Victory, Reigny, Ose Daniel, and Chisom.
Just one week before the grand finale, Precious Mac and Victory Gbakara emerged as the top 10 contestants, signalling their remarkable talent and resilience. Victory Gbakara, a lawyer, singer, and songwriter from Delta State, has been honing his singing skills since the tender age of nine, starting out as a member of a choir group.
