Dubbed “Nigeria Day,” this full-day event will take place on Saturday, July 1st, 2023, starting at 10 am at the Ernest Memorial Convention Centre in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. Attendees can look forward to a diverse range of activities throughout the day, including movie screenings, engaging panel discussions, enlightening fireside chats, and valuable networking opportunities.

The highlight of Nigeria Day will be the keynote address delivered by Deniece Laurent-Mantey, the Special Advisor for U.S. Africa Leaders Summit Implementation at the U.S. Department of State. This prestigious presence reflects the significance of the event and the growing recognition of Nollywood’s global impact.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to gain valuable insights through a detailed presentation on “How to Partner with the Creative Industry in Nigeria, particularly Nollywood.” This segment aims to foster collaborations and highlight the immense potential for creative partnerships within Nigeria’s vibrant entertainment landscape.
Leading the charge in curating and producing this historic event is That Good Media, headed by Toyosi Etim-Effiong. With their expertise and vision, they have been commissioned to ensure the success and significance of the first-ever Nigeria Day at the Essence Film Festival.
Nigeria’s inclusion in the Essence Festival of Culture and the establishment of Nigeria Day serve as powerful milestones, elevating the country’s cultural contributions and providing a platform for Nollywood to shine on the global stage.
