DJ Tárico Takes the Stage at Zanzibar’s Seafood Festival

This past weekend, the world witnessed a remarkable event as DJ Tárico, a prominent Mozambican star and member of the acclaimed amapiano group Yaba Buluku Boyz, set the world’s first floating stage ablaze at Zanzibar’s Seafood Festival.

Taking place atop the Indian Ocean, the festival offered an unforgettable experience for fans. DJ Tárico, in collaboration with ChopLife SoundSystem, delivered a curated mix of Mr Eazi’s latest album, “Chop Life, Vol. 1: Mzansi Chronicles,” adding a vibrant touch to the Nigerian superstar’s joint project.

Released on May 26, “Chop Life, Vol. 1: Mzansi Chronicles” unites the finest voices from Southern Africa in a collection of 14 songs that promise to be party anthems. Featuring artists such as Focalistic, Ami Faku, Major League DJz, ANATII, Moonchild Sanelly, and more, this album guarantees an explosive combination of talent and creativity. DJ Tárico’s involvement in nine of the tracks, including the previously released hit “Patek,” showcases his signature log drum loops, further enriching the album’s sound.

Since the release of “Yaba Buluku” in 2020, DJ Tárico has been making waves in the music industry. His catchy rhythms have led to collaborations with renowned artists like DJ Consequence, Yuri Da Cunha, Mr Eazi, and Jux & G NAKO, amassing over 400,000 monthly listeners on Spotify alone. His contributions have garnered recognition, with notable nominations such as Best African DJ at AFRIMA 2021 and 2022, solidifying his position as a key figure in the African music scene.

The Seafood Festival Experience: Zanzibar’s Seafood Festival, held on Saturday, May 27, celebrated the rich culinary and cultural heritage of the region.
