Actor Kalu Ikeagwu Sues For Dissolution Of Marriage & Full Custody Of Son & Stepdaughter

Peoples Gazette reports that Nollywood actor Kalu Ikeagwu, in court on Monday, said his estranged wife, Ijeoma, abandoned their family home and prevented him from getting access to their two children.

According to the suit marked LD/8939HD/2021, Ikeagwu is seeking a divorce from Ijeoma, his wife of six years. He also wants full custody of his three-year-old son and ten-year-old stepdaughter.

During cross-examination by the respondent’s counsel, S.I. Amedu, Ikeagwu stated that his wife had packed out of their house and she sent him an email saying she was going to her father’s house in Enugu.

In addition, Ikeagwu denied sending his wife and children out of the house and failing to provide for them. Additionally, the actor claimed that his wife refused him sex and poured water on him while he was sleeping.

“After the birth of our son, she has refused to have sex with me. I was not aware she lost the pregnancy due to an infection as I did not give her any infection. Till date, I have not seen any report attached to a document that she lost a baby through STD. Though I did not ask her why she lost the baby,” .

After his wife denied him the right to be the stepfather to his stepdaughter, Ikeagwu stopped sending money for upkeep and maintenance to the kids. 

In addition, he stated that she accused him of sleeping with the child, and she did not acknowledge the amount of money he sent her.

As to why he sought custody of his stepdaughter whose guardianship he had earlier sought to revoke, the actor said he had information that his wife wanted them relocated.

Justice Christopher Balogun had previously ordered the children to play with their father in court and ordered the respondent to submit receipts for the children’s tuition fees. The judge explained that giving him custody of their daughter while her mother is alive would be difficult.
