‘We have our peculiarities and we have our histories, therefore to prevent our local languages from going into extinction parents should make indigenous languages form of communication at home while children are also to be given necessary exposure to the richness of our socio-cultural heritages right from the cradle.

Parents should also encourage children to wear native and traditional attires and they should monitor their children and note the profiles details of their peers, they should also pay impromptu visits to the schools and create time for periodic checking of the students’ bags’ he said.

Barrister Kayode Oduoye also said the nation’s legislative houses should work towards passing a bill that would ban the use of handsets by students in primary and secondary schools as the teenagers have a high proclivity to make negative use of facilities on phones and it could be a form of distraction.

He also said that government at various levels should sustain the tempo in the drive to return schools to the original owners the missionaries who would help in preaching morals to the students while the 36 states in the country should as a matter of urgency create the Ministry of Youth Affairs.

‘The future of the country is in our hands and everybody would agree with me that issues concerning the youth is too important to be treated with levity the mind-sickening security challenges in the country could be made a thing of the past if the problems facing the youth is tackled and made to experience drastic reduction.

Those being used as foot soldiers by the disgruntled elements in the society are mainly the youth and if they are gainfully occupied and are no longer available as instruments of oppression the sponsors would definitely stop the nefarious activities.

It is intriguing that though nobody anywhere in any location in the world is more than a mile away from a place of worship yet things have gone so awry that you sometimes wonder if there are Godly people around’ he said.

Barrister Kayode Oduoye also urged leaders at various levels to be selfless, committed and conscientiously protect the best interests of the governed.

Kayode Oduoye who described the award as timely urged the youths to ensure they engage only in meaningful and gainful things.

‘You won’t know your activities are being watched by some people and an award like this is a good step in the right direction as it would encourage and make one get more dedicated to the service of humanity’ he stated.
