US-based Nigerian actress Doris Simeon has broken her silence on one of the most challenging periods of her life—the moment her ex-husband, Daniel Ademinokan, took away their son without her consent.
Speaking on the Talk To B Show, hosted by fellow actress Biola Adebayo, Doris shared the emotional pain and struggle she has endured for years but has rarely spoken about publicly.
Doris recounted how, after their separation, Daniel moved to the United States with their then 3-year-old son and his new partner, actress Stella Damasus, leaving Doris without the opportunity to continue mothering her child. According to Doris, she never harbored resentment towards Daniel or Stella; however, the pain of being cut off from her son was something she couldn’t easily overcome.
“It wasn’t about who he chose to be with afterward,” Doris explained. “My issue was never getting to mother my own child or even being consulted about the decision. That was a wound that took years to heal.”
After marrying Stella Damasus in 2014, Daniel relocated with his new wife and son to the United States, effectively leaving Doris out of their son’s life. This unexpected move left Doris devastated, as she had no say in the matter and was left behind in Nigeria. However, the couple’s marriage eventually ended after six years, with Daniel and Stella parting ways.
Despite the heartbreak, Doris has since moved on, and she, too, has relocated to the United States and has since reconnected with her son. In a refreshing twist, the actress revealed during the interview that she’s found happiness again and hinted at having someone special in her life now.
“There’s someone there” Doris said with a smile when asked about giving love a chance again.
