“Andrew No Checkout O”… But Will Nigeria Survive? 🤷♂️
It is quite disturbing and disheartening the number of folks I have spoken to in the last week who have simply just given up on Nigeria. These are reasonably comfortable folks with nice jobs and thriving businesses.
On the other hand, the only ones who seem not too perturbed about the further unraveling of our failed union in Nigeria are those who either see themselves in an elective office soon where they can also steal their share or those currently stealing and pretending to be fixing this nation or those minions who tremble and bow just to retain the crumbs from the tables of those currently stealing the nation dry.
[Tweet “Quite ironic, you miss home so much because of your loved ones and you just wish you could return home and spend more time, however, those you’re missing are so tired of home and want to run away as soon as an opportunity presents itself. You are homesick but they are effectively so bloody sick of what home has become.”]
Where do we draw a distinctive line and not just demand but ensure these jokers and failures are booted out? How do we go about doing this? I know many who wish to be conservative will begin to tell young Nigerians to join our current political arrangements and begin to make changes from the within, they are just being mischievous as far as I’m concerned. The realities are much more dire than that simplistic-sounding suggestion.
Where are those who had that same mindset yesterday with fire 🔥 in their bellies and deep-rooted desire to make a difference and bring about a change? Where are they all today? Once they taste the ‘dodo’, they lose the ability to ‘s’ododo’: meaning they lose sight of why they went into politics once they begin to benefit from the corruption that pervades our land.
How long will this continue for, people? Should we be having an election or a referendum in 2023? How long are we going to continue to suffer and smile? One half of a very insignificant percentage of people live in Nigeria, a life that easily compares to the daily living standards of Londoners all footed by the nation’s wealth then the other half of a humongous majority live like they are in Taliban Afghanistan yet can’t do anything about the insignificant minority 😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫yes, I know right! 🙄🙄🙄🙄our situation is so confusing.
Buhari has spent 200 days in UK for treatment since assuming office – Premium Times
The UK allegedly employed about a hundred Nigerian doctors. These were some of the same doctors who were scrambling to head to Saudi Arabia and were prevented by the mad leaders who wouldn’t put things right. How they still feel comfortable going to Saudi Arabia for the Hajj without shame is well beyond me. Well, they all come here to London shamelessly to get treated anyway🤷🏿♂️

Extra:
At the height of Buhari/Idiagbon’s notorious reign during the 1980s, Andrew (played by Enebeli Elebuwa) starred in a national orientation advertisement. In the commercial, Andrew would throw his traveling bag over his shoulder and say, “No light, no water. Men, I’m checking out.”
He is then grabbed by a hand and told “don’t check out.”
“Andrew no check out o!” later became a line in Veno Marioghae’s popular 1984 song “Nigeria go survive”.
